Seneca Slashers 10 vs David's Red 9

The Seneca Slashers came from behind to beat the David’s Red Team 10-9. The Slashers were down 9-5 after 5 ½ innings, and rallied for 2 runs bottom of the sixth, And then scored three in the bottom of 7th to secure the walk-off win. Everyone contributed to the team victory. Clutch hitting by Dennis Marshall and Larry Farina aided the late inning comeback each collected 2 hits apiece. Early in the game, Mark Lair added a three run homer. David’s Red played a crisp game and the entire team gave a great effort. Mark Goldberg under the weather coached a good game and put his team in position to win. 


Playoffs : Aug 6 - Aug 8

Noonan's Auto 4 vs. Monroe Maulers 2 

In a tightly contested round one playoff game Jerry Noonan’s Noonies held off the Monroe Maulers by a score of 4-2. The evenly matched game was tied at 2 in the sixth inning when Bob Levine delivered a bases loaded two run single giving Noonan a lead they didn’t relinquish. Both teams received good pitching and played solid defense. Mighty McFeely, Jo-tani and Crazy legs Hirsch contributed to the Noonan offense with two hits apiece. Noonan faces first place Pickled Herring in round two. The Maulers were led by Mike Tepedino filling in for Peter Gonzalez who was stuck in Disneyland due to the storm. Mike pitched a good game and was 2 for 3 with a double & a run scored. Tom Venanzi was 2 for 3 scoring a run, and Wayne Merwin was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Jude Mazziotta alco contributed an RBI. All players enjoyed the year and can’t wait for next season. 


July 30 - Aug 1

Regal Construction 8 vs. Princeton Ortho 7 

The last game of the season saw Regal playing Ortho in a preview of the first round playoff game. Ortho got a first inning run but Regal came up with 5 runs on 6 hits. Regal sans their pitcher started Dave F. then used Marty B. and after 5 innings the game was tied at 7. Then Mariano Elkin game in and shut Ortho down in the 6th. Regal got a hit from Mike M. and Jeff E. and a RBI single from Pete Q. for the lead. Then with their 3,4 and 5 hitters up in the 7th, Mariano closed them out getting 2 strikeouts....wow....Game Balls to Jeff 4 f0r 4 Pete 3 hits and multi hit games by Rick, Mike, Dave and Gerrard. Ortho's Pete J. had his usual day hitting as did Paul H. and Mike F.


Monroe Maulers 19 vs. David's Green 0

With both teams playing short handed, David’s Green missing key players. Mauler’s put it all together and mercies David’s in the 5th inning. Led by the Tepedino brothers (AKA Hanson Boys), Pitcher Mike gave up 3 hits and was 2/2 and 3 RBIs, as Brother Tony also 3 RBIs and John 3 RBI’s 3 runs scored plus 2/4. Also contributed was Jude Mazziotta 3 RBI’s. Guy Kovitch 3/3 and a double, Vinny Labarbera 2/2 3 runs 2 RBIs and a double, Jeff Swartz 4 runs scored and a double, and Allan Steinberg 2/3 and a hard slide trying to stretch a hit into a double. Total team effort by all players. David’s were led by Tom Kayhart with 2 hits. Both teams showed good sportsmanship and good competitiveness despite the score. Good luck to all in the playoffs. Also one nice defensive play by Tony Tepedino to end a threat with men on base.


Pickled Herring 13 vs. Noonan's Auto 4

Pickled Herring ended the regular season on a high note beating Noonan’s Auto 13-4. John Watts had 2 home runs and 4 runs batted in. Stan Wolf, Steve Cherches and Mitch Einstein each had 2 runs batted in Joe Dougherty, Dan Meyer, Mike Dunn, Victor Williams, Mike George, Bob Harris, Stan Chorney, Dennis Belzer and Larry Turkel all contributed to the win. Honorable mention for Noonan: St4eve Leventhal went 2 for 3 and 1 RBI, Ira Cotler went 1 fir 3 and 2 RBI and Howie Diamond went 1 fir 3 and 1 RBI.


Seneca Slashers 8 vs. David's Red 5 

The Seneca Slashers won their third straight game in beating a David’s Red team 8-5. In doing so, the Slashers, secured a second place  finish in the West Division. The Slashers were led by Larry Farina who went 3-3 and scored 3 runs. And Dennis Marshall, who went 2-3 and RBI and pitched another brilliant game. Overall, the Win was a team effort with everyone playing solid defense. David’s Red team, was nursing some injuries, but put up a gallant effort in defeat. And Mark Goldberg did a good job juggling his line-up to give his chance at the win. They were led by Barry Citron who went 3-3. Alan Blumenthal, Jay Gumnic and Frank Gottleib added 2 hits apiece. 


July 23 - 25

Noonan's Auto 17 vs. Regal Construction 2 

Behind the strong pitching of Howard Diamond and the thunder of Mighty Marty McFeely, the Noonies defeated Regal Construction 17-2 on Tuesday. McFeely, who was 3-3 with three homers, including a grand slam and 9 RBIs, led the offensive attack which included 3 hits from Boom Boom Beckerman, Alan Stauber, Bob Levine and Mark Hirsch. Ed Gilson and Howard also contributed with two hits each. The Noonies improved their record to 4-8. Regal Construction was led by Marty Beillis’ 3 for 3.


Princeton Ortho 10 vs. Monroe Maulers 9 

In their toughest game so far, and with their backs against the wall, POA clawed their way back from a 9-0 deficit to beat a tough and determined Monroe Maulers team 10-9. In the bottom of the 1st inning, the Maulers lived up to their name by clobbering the ball all over the field on their way to a 7-0 lead. It got worse for POA as they fell behind 9-0 heading into the top of the 3rd. But POA refused to be DOA and slowly clawed their back into the game. 2B Joe “Popeye” Grispino broke the ice with a run-scoring triple in the top of the 3rd. SS Pete “The Hammer” Joseph walked up to the plate with a man on base and proceeded to jack a pitch over the left field fence for a 2-run HR. Meanwhile, P Steve “Iron Man” Brody found his groove and shutout the Maulers the rest of the way as the POA defense held fast. The 7th inning proved decisive as POA came up in the top of the 7th trailing 9-7. With a man on 1st, middle infielder “Fearless” Jill Rothschild had a key infield hit to put runners at 1st and 2nd. Then LF “Slick” Sandy Smith stroked a clutch double to drive in the tying runs. LCF Mike “In Like” Flynn then sealed the deal with an RBI single. In the bottom of the 7th, Brody watched a fly ball disappear into the glove of RF Richie “Rags” Ragovin for the 3rd out and his 9th win of the season. The Maulers were led by Jeff Swartz, who had 3 hits, including 2 doubles and 2 runs scored, Allan Steinberg with 2 hits and an RBI, and Mike Tepedino with a double and 2 RBI.    


Seneca Slashers 5 vs. David's Red 4 

In hotly contested game, the Seneca Slashers outlasted the David’s Red Team 5-4. The Slashers were down 4-2 going into the home half of the 7th inning and rallied for two runs. The game went into extra innings and with 2 outs in the ninth and a runner on second. Larry Farina delivered the Clutch game winning hit. Larry Farina collected 3 hits for the game, run scored and RBI. Lou Monteforte chipped in with 2 hits and an RBI. Mark Lair scored the tying run in the bottom of the 7 th, and chipped in with a Triple, RBI and run scored. Overall, the Slashers played a great defensive game to support the brilliant pitching of Dennis Farina. Returning from injury Santiago Henriquez was stellar at first base and contributed a base hit, and scored a run David’s Red played a solid defensive game as well, and offensively, were led by Carl Fink and Ron Sucher 3 hits apiece. Mark Goldberg expertly captained his team, and as always, he along with his team were true sportsman. 


Pickled Herring 6 vs. David's Green 4

Behind the pitching of Larry Turkel’s 11th win Pickled Herring was able to outlast David’s Green in a competitive game 6-4. John Watts had 2 hits including a triple, one RBI, and 2 runs scored. Mitch Einstein had a double and 2 RBI’s. Stan Wolf contributed with a hit and one RBI. David Green’s 9 hit attack was led by 2 hits each from Tom Kayhart, George Rothweiler and David Van Wart. Kayhart also had 3 RBI’s on the day.

July 16 - 18

Seneca Slashers 13 vs. David's Green 6

The Seneca Slashers banged our (19) hits enroute to a 13-6 David’s Green Team. David’s Green were a bit undermanned and hurting, but gave a gallant effort, led by Leo Friedlich, Tom Kayhart and Jerry Lefkowitz 2 hits each. Mike O’Donohue did a great job managing his team and as always was a gentleman and displayed good sportsmanship. In a team effort, the Slashers were led by Mark Lair who went 4-4 including a HR and triple, and drove in 7 Runs. Larry Farina went 4 – 4 with RBI and 2 Runs Scored. Glen Schoenig, Jose Colls and Cliff Durlacher chipped in with 2 hits apiece. And Marty Kugel had a hit and 2 runs scored. Dennis Marshall pitched a brilliant 7 innings in the extreme heat. 


Pickled Herring 8 vs. Monroe Maulers 7

Having 3 men thrown out at home plate is usually a recipe for disaster. But Pickled Herring dug down deep and came all the way back from 7-1 to win 8-7 in 9 innings. A bases loaded double from Victor Williams began the comeback scoring 3 runs. Mitch Einstein’s single in the ninth scored Dan Meyer all the way from 1st base for the winning run. Outstanding fielding plays from Mike George and Joe Dougherty contributed to the victory. Larry Torkel held Monroe scoreless in the last 4 innings while pitching with a pulled hamstring. Monroe Maulers had a total of 20 hits led by Jeff Swartz 4/4 and a double, Vinny Labarbera 3/3 and 2 runs scored, Wayne Merwin 3 /4 Also and Guy Kovitch 2 hits each and Tony Tepedino 2 RBI’s.


Princeton Ortho 13 vs. Noonan’s Auto 9 

 On an oppressively hot day, POA outlasted a tough Noonan’s Auto team 13-9. Trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the 1st, a Peter Joseph double drove in POA’s first 2 runs. With Noonan’s ahead 7-2 in the 4th, the POA bats woke up putting 3 runs across the plate to close the gap at 7-5. After giving up a solo HR to Noonan’s Doc Berkowitz in the top of the 5th, POA finally unleashed its potent offense scoring 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th to go ahead 11-8. They then pushed 2 insurance runs across the plate in their half of the 6th to seal the deal at 13-9. In another solid team effort, POA was led by SS Peter Joseph and 1B Jed Steinberg, who each knocked in 4 runs, RF Richie Ragovin, who contributed 2 hits and 2 RBI, and 3B Paul Rosenheim who had another big day scoring 3 runs and adding 2 hits, including a big triple in the 1st. P Steve Brody remained steadfast in the face of the mounting heat and notched his 7th win of the season. 

Noonan’s was led by Steve Leventhal who had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Doc Berkowitz with the game’s only HR, Ira Cutler, with 2 hits and 2 RBI, Marty McFeely with 2 hits, and Mark Beckerman with 2 hits and an RBI.   


Monroe Maulers 3 vs. Noonan’s Auto 2 

Another exciting close game of 13 innings. Defensive plays and solid pitching. Noonan's was led by pitching of Alex Weingarten and Joe Martingano. Maulers Pete Gonzalez did the same. With the score 2 to 1 in Noonan’s favor and 2 outs bottom of 7th. Dan Feeney reached base on a hard hit ball and Allan Steinberg then singled next. Pete Gonzalez hit the tying run in to send into extra innings. Both teams did not score again till the bottom of the 13th. Jude Mazziotta led off with a single and Jeff Swartz running for Jude. Tom Venanzi line drive which was slowed down by Steve Leventhal ended up in the outfield Jeff Swartz made it home from first base. Both teams made many defensive plays to extend game. Doc Berkowitz (Noonans) and Tom Venanzi (Maulers) made game saving plays to end threats. Noonan’s led by Berkowitz 3 hits & RBI, Mark Beckerman 3 hits and Ira Cutler 1 hit & RBI. Maulers were led by Jeff Swartz 3 for 6 & Tom Venanzi 4 for 5. All players played hard and displayed good sportsmanship in the game. 


July 9 - 11

Seneca Slashers 10 vs. Pickled Herring 8 

In a hard fought game the Seneca Slashers outlasted the Pickled Herring team (10 – 8.) The Slashers banged out 14 hits. Led by Mark Lair who went 3-3 including a triple and 5 RBI. And Glen Schoenig went 2-3 and had 2 RBI. Larry Farina, Dennis Marshall and Marty Kugel added 2 hits a piece and scored 4 runs and added 2 RBI amongst them. Dennis Marshall picked up his 3rd win of the season, pitching another consistent game. The Pickled Herring squad were led by Mitch Einstein with 3 hits and 2 RBI. John Watts had 2 hits including a double and was a “blur” going down the line to beat out a single, great hustle play. Joe Dougherty had 2 hits and 2 RBI. The previously undefeated Pickled Herring to a man were gracious and a class act accepting their first defeat of the season. As usual, great job of managing by Dennis Belzer.


Princeton Ortho 8 vs. Regal Construction 3 

Led by the power pitching of Steve “Iron Man” Brody, the hitting of SS Mike “In Like” Flynn and LF “Slick” Sandy Smith, plus the tremendous defensive showing by 2B Joe “Popeye” Grispino, Princeton Orthopedic Associates (POA) defeated Regal Construction 8-3. Brody had command of the plate and won his 6th game of the season, while Flynn contributed 2 doubles and 2 RBI, and Steve “Sage” Meyers had a big RBI single in the 3rd. Smith’s double in the top of the 7th drove in two runs icing the game for POA, but it was Grispino with his glove who gave his team a shot in the arm by making three incredible running catches from 2nd into short right field. Leading the way for Regal was SS Jeff Elkin who had a multi-hit game going 2 for3 day with 1 RBI. 


Regal Construction 19 vs. Seneca Slashers 8 

Regal came in to today short players and got a replacement as was Seneca and they added a replacement player so both teams played with 9. (Rich Delvecchio had to leave before the game started because his wife had a medical problem, we all pray that she will be okay). Regal got off to a fast start scoring 7 first inning runs and held Seneca to 1. After 4 Regal had a 15-6 lead and never looked back. Game Balls go to Alan F. Jeff E. and Marty B. all with 5 hit games. Dave F. with 4 and Pete Q. with3 hits two of them triples. Welcome to the league to Mike Molotschko with a couple of hits in his début.


David’s Red 6 vs. Monroe Maulers 5 

Close competitive game not over until last inning. Maulers were led by a John Tepedino double and 2 RBIS, Jeff Swartz 2 hits and scored 2 runs, Tony Tepedino also 2 hits, and Allan Steinberg with 3 hits. Game MVP was Allan (Hit it where they ain’t) Steinberg. With tying run on third and go ahead run on second, left fielder Scott Kali made a diving catch and threw home to end game with double play. Good sportsmanship all around. 

July 2 - 3

Regal Construction 11 vs. David's Green 6

On a glorious sunny July day Regal needed a win desperately. The game started well for Regal as the first three hitters got hits although a big inning was not to be two runs scored on RBI singles by Dave F. and Rich G. Then Regal put up 4 runs in the 3rd and thought they would coast home with an easy victory. This was not the case as David"s Green came right back with 3 of their own in the bottom half. After 5 it was a one run game but Regal pushed across 4 runs in the 6th and 7th and finally played defense to hold on and avoid a David's come back. 11-6 was the final. Game Balls go to Jeff E. with a 4 for 4 game and Alan F. Rick H. Bob C. with 3 hits each. David's Green were led by George R. and Leo F. both with 2 multi hit games.

Princeton Ortho 8 vs. Seneca Slashers 5 

Left center fielder Mike “In Like” Flynn broke open a close game with a 3-run triple in the bottom of the 6th to power Princeton Orthopedic Associates to an 8-5 win over the Seneca Slashers. It was a total team effort as P Steve Brody, back from vacation, notched his 5th win of the season, while the defense played solidly behind him. Steve “The Sage” Meyers and “Fearless” Jill Rothschild put in strong performances at middle infield while Joe “Popeye” Grispino played flawlessly at 2B. 3B Paul “Rosey” Rosenheim had 2 hits, scored 2 runs and added an RBI, while SS Pete “The Hammer” Joseph smacked 2 doubles, drove in a run and scored twice. The Seneca Slashers were led by Mark Lair, who went 3-3 with an RBI, Glen Schoenig, who went 2-3 with an RBI, and Jose Colls, with 2 hits in 3 AB and an RBI. 

Monroe Maulers 7 vs. Noonan's Auto 6 

In another close and contested game by 2 evenly teams not decided until the final inning. Tied 6/6 Guy Kovitch led off with a double to left field ( might have cleared the fence at field #3 ). He was also 2 for 3 and 2 runs scored. Tony Tepedino singled which was the go ahead run. Tony also had 2 RBI’s, as did Fred Charleston. Also 2 hits each by Jeff Swartz and Dan Feeney. Noonans were led by Alan Stauber 2 hits, 2 RBI’s,Ed Gilson 2 hits and Mark Hirsch 2 hits and a rbi. Both teams displayed good defense and sportsmanship as always. 

Pickled Herring 10 vs. David's Red 2 

In a game won by Pickled Herring 10-2, it took late game fireworks in the form of back to back homers by Steve Cherches and Dan Meyer to break the game open. A total team effort saw nine different players have an RBI. A fine pitching performance by Larry Turkel was backed up by stellar defense. David’s Red had multiple hits by Barry Citron, Jay Gumnic and Frank Gottlieb.


June 25 - 27

David's Green 8 vs. Monroe Maulers 6

Fueled by 3 hits (including a triple) and 4 RBIs from George Rothweiler, David's Green outlasted the Monroe Maulers 8-6. David Van Wart also had 3 hits for David's Green. Keith Epstein started a nifty double play to end a Monroe Maulers 7th inning rally. The Monroe Maulers were led by Tom Venanzi with 2 hits (including a double) and an RBI. Allan Steinberg and Jude Mazziotta both had a double and RBI for the Maulers. Overall it was a well played game by two competitive teams.


Pickled Herring 8 vs. Noonan's Auto 3

Behind the pitching of Larry Turkel and the clutch hitting of Dan Meyer, John Watts, Mitch Einstein, Victor Williams, Stan Chorney, Mike Dunn, Bob Harris and Michael George, Pickled Herring prevailed in extra innings over Noonan’s Auto by the score of 8-3. Honorable mention for Noonan’s Auto: Alan Stauber 3 hits, Marty Beckerman, Marty McFeely and Greg Berkowitz each with 2 hits. A special thanks to Rich DelVecchio for filling in as umpire at the last moment.


Princeton Ortho 16 vs. David’s Red 11 

In a gritty offensive battle that was undecided until the last inning, Princeton Orthopedic Associates (POA) defeated David’s Red 16-11. Trailing 11-8 entering the top of the 7th, POA “Cortisone Crew” got a much needed shot in the arm from “Fearless” Jill Rothschild who drew a walk to get the rally started. POA batted around and scored 8 runs to seal the win. Leading the way offensively were P Pete “The Hammer” Joseph who banged out 4 hits and drove in 5 runs, 1B Jed “The Dread” Steinberg who had 3 hits and 2 runs scored, and LCF Mike “In Like” Flynn, who chipped in with 3 hits and 3 RBI. Both Sandy “The Slick” Smith and Paul “Rosey” Rosenheim set the table for POA’s power hitters with 4 hits and 2 runs scored and 3 hits and 2 runs scored respectively. David’s Red was led by Steve Glassman and Alan Blumenthal who each had 3 hits.


June 18 - 20

Princeton Ortho 10 vs. Regal Construction 6

In a game that was tighter than the score indicated, Princeton Orthopedic Associates (POA) beat regal Construction 10-6. Peter Joseph showed why he was the League MVP in 2023 by banging out 3 hits, including a double and triple to drive in 5 runs. Alan “The Bear” Herman went 3 for 3 and drove in a run while Mike Flynn chipped in with 2 hits and an RBI. However, it was the defense that clinched the POA win. Both Steve “The Sage” Meyers and “Fearless” Jill Rothschild played lights out at middle infield, while 3B Paul Rosenheim and 1B Jed Steinberg anchored the infield with solid play. Regal Construction was led by Dave Franknecht and Jeff Elkin, who notched 3 hits apiece. 

Noonan's Auto 4 vs. Monroe Maulers 2

In a closely contested, well pitched and sharply defended game, the Noonies came away with a hard fought 4-2 victory on the strength of Mighty Marty McFeelys grand slam. In the third inning, Ed Gilson and Mark Hirsch reached on base hits and Captain Ray walked loading the bases and setting the stage for Martys heroics. His line drive to left went all the way to the fence, allowing everyone to score and erasing a 2-0 deficit. Neither team would score again. Alan Stauber and Ira Cutler made key defensive plays that helped stave off a Mauler comeback. The Maulers’s offense was led by Vinny Labarbera with 2 hits and a RBI, and Allan Steinbergs 2 hits. Wayne Merwin had two nice running catches in the outfield. Another good pitching game by Peter Gonzalez. Both teams played a good competitive game.

Pickled Herring 10 vs. David's Green 9

From Pickled Herring: Mike D was in the hospital Monday, he is our MVP. Not only for showing up to prevent a forfeit but 2 huge solo put outs at 1st and 6 from his infielders. Steve C 4-4 with a HR & Larry T’s stellar pitching were tied for runner up MVPs for Pickled Herring in a see-saw and competitive game. 

David’s Green had good hitting, just not able to get enough runners across home plate.  They were led by 3 hits from Alan Schwartz, David Van Wart and George Rothweiler.

June 11 - 13

Regal Construction 7 vs Pickled Herring 17

John Watts hit for the cycle, had 6 RBI, and played a stellar defense to lead the Pickled Herring team to a 17-7 victory over Regal Construction. Mitch Einstein had 4 hits, with Stan Wolf, Steve Cherches, Larry Turkel, and Danny Meyer each collecting 3 hits to back another pitching gem from Turkel. Mike George collected 2 hits and 3 RBI. Alan Feinberg had 4 hits, and Tim Washington had 3 hits to lead the Regal team. 

Monroe Maulers 6 vs Seneca Slashers 4

In another closely contested game by two evenly matched teams. Again led by pitcher Pete Gonzalez who also was 2 for 2 shut down the Slashers in the 7th with men on base. Maulers had 15 hits led by Vinny Labarbera, Mike Tepedino, Wayne Merwin, Gonzalez, and John Tepedino, who also had 2 RBIS. Also welcome back Jude Mazziotta 1 for 1 and a RBI. And Kudos to Marisa for filming. Seneca Slashers rallied for 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th, but came up short in a hard fought game. The Slasher’s were led by Glen Schoenig 3 for 3 & a RBI. Tim Groves, Larry Farina, Ralph Wainwright, & Lou Monteforte chipped in with a hit apiece & had 2 RBIS amongst the group. Thanks to Rich Delvecchio and the Maulers who both have a bunch of classy guys who display Great Sportsmanship. Slashers also had 3 inning ending double plays.

Pickled Herring 8 vs Monroe Maulers 3

Ira Finkler’s big bat and slick fielding led the Pickled Herring over the Maulers 8-3. The rookie of the year candidate Ira, was a wizard with the glove, snuffing out a Maulers rally by turning a huge double play. The Maulers were led by Jeff Swartz and Wayne Merwin with 2 hits apiece. The Tepedino brothers were represented with John with 2 RBI, and Mike with a booming double that makes it out on field 3. As usual Pete Gonzalez pitched a masterful game to keep the score close.  

Princeton Ortho 6 vs Seneca Slashers 5

In a hotly contested game that saw timely hitting and solid defense from both sides throughout, Princeton Ortho outlasted the Seneca Slashers 6-5. Princeton Ortho’s “Cortisone Crew” was led by Mike “In Like” Flynn, who had 3 hits and drove in the tying run with a hard hit single in the bottom of the 7th, Pete “The Hammer” Joseph, with 3 hits and some stellar defense, Steve “Iron Man” Brody, who banged out 4 hits while winning his third game of the season, and Sir Lance “A Lot” Greenberg, who had 2 hits and a walk off single in the bottom of the 7th that drove in the winning run. The Slashers were led by Dennis Marshall’s 3 hits and RBI. Larry Farina and Howard Trager chipped in with 2 hits apiece.

Noonan's Auto 13 vs David's Green 2

The Noonies captured their first win of the season behind a brilliant pitching gem from Howie Diamond, timely hitting and crisp defensive play. The offense scored their highest run output of the season, led by Jo-Marts 4 hits and 3 hits a piece from Boom Boom Beckerman and Mighty Marty McFeeley. David's Green was led by Mitch Stoffer with 2 hits and doubles by both David Van Wart and George Rothweiler. Van Wart also turned in numerous sparkling plays at third base.

June 4 - 6  

Princeton Ortho 14 vs Seneca Slashers 3   

A 6-run 1st inning powered Princeton Orthopedic Associates (POA) to a 14-3 victory over the Seneca Slashers. The POA “Cortisone Crew” got a shot in the arm from P Steve “Iron Man” Brody, who owned the plate all game and never walked a batter in notching his second win of the season. The POA offense was powered by Paul “Rosey” Rosenheim and Jed “The Dread” Steinberg, who each banged out 4 hits and scored 4 and 3 runs respectively, Pete “The Hammer” Joseph, who lived up to his name with 3 hits and 4 RBI, and Mike “In Like” Flynn with 3 Hits and 2 RBI. The outfield made the tough plays needed to win, with Sandy “The Dandy” Smith and Richie “Rags” Ragovin coming up with big catches, while Steve “The Sage” Meyers played a strong game at middle infield. The Seneca Slashers were led by Ralph Wainright with 2 hits and 2 runs scored, Mark Lair with 2 hits and an RBI, and Dennis Marshall with 2 hits and an RBI. 


David's Green 7 vs. Noonan's Auto 6    

Fueled by 2 hits from Leo Friedlich (double and triple), Michael O'Donohue (including a double) and Mitch Glanzrock, David's Green outlasted Noonan's Auto 7-6. Leo also went the distance on the mound to seal David's Green first win of the season.   Noonan's Auto was led Mark Beckerman with 4 singles and Marty McFeeley with 3 hits including a double. Ray Gwertzman and Howard Diamond each contributed 2 singles. Howard also pitched 5 strong innings for Noonan's Auto.


Regal Construction 17 vs. David's Red 5

Team Regal came into this game needing some sort of spark, after losing their first two games. Enter Sandy (Cy Young) Smith who gave Regal just what was needed as she held David's Red to 1 run thru 6. Regal scored 4 first inning runs on Pete Q. first of two 3 run homeruns. Then Regal got 7 runs in the second and never looked back. Kudos to Pete Q. going 5 for5 with 2 HR's and Jeff E. also 5 for 6.  David F. and Rich G. both with 3 hits apiece. For David's Red Mark G. and Glen T. both got 3 hits apiece. And if it doesn't rain both teams meet again Thursday.


Pickled Herring 6 vs. Monroe Maulers 1 

In a close game Pickled Herring scored 4 runs in the 6th inning to secure their 3rd win of the season, 6-1. The team was led by Dan Meyer whose 3 hits and daring base running contributed to the win. Essential to victory was Larry Turkel’s pitching, Mitch Einstein’s 3 RBI’s and fantastic short stop play and Mike George who played an excellent 2nd base. The Monroe Maulers were led by Venanzi, Swartz and Merwin with 2 hits a piece. Peter Gonzalez pitched a great game keeping the score close.

May 28 - 30  

 Seneca Slashers 8 vs Noonan's Auto 7  

In a hotly contested game - The Seneca Slashers outlasted Noonan's Auto 8-7 in 8 innings pushing ahead the winning run on hit by Santiago Henriquez.  Santiago added 3 other hits and Glen Schoenig lead the way for the Slashers collecting 3 hits and 3 RBI.  Five other players chipped in with 2 hits a piece:  Ralph Wainright, Mark Lair, Lou Monteforte, Jose Colls and Tim Groves.  For Noonan's Auto their offense was led by Marty Mcfeeley and Steve Leventhal.  Joe Montagano filled in expertly has captain and as always was a gentleman.   

 Monroe Maulers 12 vs Regal Construction 10   

In a closely contested game between two evenly matched teams. The Maulers led by Pitcher Pete Gonzalez held off Regal Construction in the last inning with men on base and the heart of their order up. Regal were led by David Franknecht 4 for 5 with a double and 3 RBIS, Pete Quaglierni 2 for 3 and a triple. Also Rich Hershkowitz & Alan Feinberg each with 3 hits. Maulers were led By Tony Tepedino 3 hits and a finger tip fall down home plate score, witnessed by umpire Bob Harris. Also 3 RBIs by Dan Feeney and 2 hits each by Tom Venanzi & Guy Kovitch who also had a double. Wayne Merwin knock in 2 runs. MVP of the was Tony Tepedino. Marty Beillis came in relief and held the Maulers in check last innings.  Also kudos to Marisa for filming highlights for the teams.


Pickled Herring 13 vs Princeton Ortho 12
In a game with numerous lead changes, Pickle Herring was able to outlast Princeton Ortho 13 to 12. It was a total team effort by Pickled Herring who was led by 2 RBI’s each by Mike Dunn, Bob Harris and Dennis Belzer. Also contributing were Mick George, Stan Wolf and Steve Cherches with clutch hits. Stan Chorney gutted it out for 5 innings before having to leave the game with a pulled hamstring. Princeton Ortho was led by Peter Joseph with 4 hits, including 2 doubles, 3 RBI’s and 3 runs scored; LF Mike Flynn with a big triple and 3 RBI’s; 3 B Paul Rosenheim who had 5 hits and 2 runs scored; and pitcher Steve Brady, 1B Jed Steinberg and 2B Joe Grispino who each banged out 3 hits.

May 22 - 24

Seneca Slashers 6 vs Regal Construction 5

In hard fought opening day contest, the Seneca Slashers rallied for 3 runs in the top of the 7 th to secure a 6-5 victory.  Both teams played Stellar defense to in keeping the offenses of both teams at bay. The Seneca Slammers were led by Mark Lair, Glen Schoenig and Jason Sobel 2 hits apiece and 1 rbi for each.  

In a gallant effort, Regal Construction was led by Pete Quaglierini who went 3 for 3 with a double/triple. Rob Cranmar went 2 for 2 and a walk and added a 3 run homer.  Dave Franknecht went 2 for 3.  


Pickled Herring 7 vs Noonan's Auto 3   

A successful start to the season for Pickled Herring. Led by Steve Cherches, spectacular fielding and first home run of the season and Mitch Einstein's four RBIS, Pickled Herring won 7-3. Honorable mention to Larry Torkel for his excellent no walk pitching The Noonies were led by Steve Leventhal with a pair of doubles.


Princeton Ortho 9 vs Davids Red 4   

Princeton Orthopedic Associates (POA) opened its season with a 9-4 win over David’s Landscaping-Red. The POA “Cortisone Crew” played a solid defensive game, with 3B Paul “Rosey” Rosenheim and SS Pete “The Hammer” Joseph anchoring the infield, and LF “Smooth” Sandy Smith and LCF Mike ‘In Like” Flynn locking down the outfield. P Steve “Iron Man” Brody notched his first win of the year. He was backed by timely hitting from 1B Jed “The Dread” Steinberg, 2B Joe “Popeye” Grispino, and Flynn, who all banged out 2 hits apiece. Rosen-heim scored twice for POA in the victory. Alan Blumenthal had 2 hits for David’s-Red.


Monroe Maulers 14 vs David's Green 1    

With our sponsor present Jude Mazziotta (not playing) and Marisa (daughter) filming the game. The Maulers caught fire. Had 18 hits and played well defensively. Led by pitcher Pete Gonzalez (MVP) also was 3 for 3. Two running catches by John Tepedino turned into two DPs. Also line drive stab by Dan Feeney to stop rallies. Two run homer by Jeff Swartz, Tom Venanzi bases clearing triple. Also 2 hits each by Swartz Venanzi, John Tepedino, Vinny Labarbera and Fred Charleston. David’s Green had nice defensive plays by Van Wart and Mitch Stoffer.    David Van Wart and Mitch Stoffer also had 2 hits each.
