Noonan's 9 - Seneca Slashers 1

In the last game of the regular season, Noonan’s Noonies won for only the 3rd time in 12 tries besting the Seneca Slashers by a score of 9-1. Noonan’s was led by the excellent pitching of Mitch Garson who only gave up 4 hits, had 2 K’s and no walks. He also “pitched” in with 3 hits and an rbi. Other contributors to Noonan’s victory were Marty Mcfeely ( 2 hits), Paul “Rosie” Rosenheim (2 hits, 1 rbi,) Mike “OD” O’Donahue ( 2 Hits, 2 rbi’s), Ira Cutler (1 hit, 2 rbi’s), and Pete “Gonzo” Gonzalez ( 1 hit, 1 rbi). Bobby “Bobito” Harris and Big Dave Franknecht played excellent defense in preserving the victory. On the other side of the ledger, Seneca’s Steve Brody pitched an excellent game as well and Joe Dougherty chipped in with 2 hits and drove in Seneca's lone run. Now that we’ve all got our 12 games in, let the games begin! Good luck to all of our teams in the playoffs and may the best team win! Or, is it the team that plays the best?! In its best offensive performance of the season, POA defeated David’s Red 18-5 behind the solid pitching of Leo Friedlich. POA, with a great team effort, was led by LF Sandy Smith with 4 hits and 3 runs scored, LCF Jed Steinberg with 4 hits and 4 runs scored, 3B Joe Lopez wit 2 hits, 2 runs scored, and 2RBI, and RCF Bob Cranmer, who had 3 hits, including a big triple in the 6th inning, 2 runs scored and 4 RBI.

Seneca Slashers 14 - David's Green 0

The Seneca Slashers beat David's Green 14-0. The Slashers pounded out 23 hits and played stellar defense for 9 innings. They were led by 4 hits apiece from Steve Brody and George Rothweiler. Larry Farina, Carl Fink and Grant Elman collected 3 hits each and Grant Elman drove in 4 runs. Mark Lair and Michael George collected 2 hits a piece. Santiago Henriquez scored 7 runs. And Steve Brody threw strikes and was able to pitch a shut-out. David's Green was undermanned and banged up a bit. They were led by 4 hits by Mitch Stoffer. Mitch Einstein played gallantly in defeat and despite the aches/pains played an excellent first base, He was gracious in defeat and has a well coached team.

Yes Group 9 - POA 6

Another good competitive game today. Both teams showed sportsmanship and ability to play this game with their best always. Yes Group was led by the steady pitching of Michael Tepedino and Vinny Labarbera. Defense was led by Tony D’Angelo 3b and Marty Beilis at 1st, and Tony Tepedino at shortstop, which again turned 3 DPs. With help from Fred Charleston. Hitting stars, Tom Venanzi a single, triple and 3 runs, Tony D’Angelo 2/3, 2 runs,3 RBIs and a double, Vinny Labarbera 3/4 2 runs 2 RBIs and a double, Dan Feeney 2 RBIs, Tony Tepedino 3/4 a run a rbi and a double, Fred Charleston 3/4. A total team effort hitting and defensively. POA was led by 3B Joe Lopez 3 hits and 3 RBIs, 1B Steve Glassman 2 hits and scored twice and Middle infielder Mike Berkowitz chipped in with 2 hits and a rbi. Also a pleasure as always to play against Bob Zyontz and POA.

Pickled Herring 11 - Noonan's 4

Pickled Herring in a well played game prevailed over Noonan's by a score of 11 to 4. There were clutch hits by Rich Jacob's and Kenny Latawiec. Once again Lou Pichinson pitched a great game. Noonan was led by Mike Flynn's 4 run homer, Paul Rosenheim's 3 hits and Captain Ray's hit and rbi.

Seneca Slashers 11 - David's Red 10

In hotly contested game the Seneca Slasher rallied from 5 runs down enroute to an 11-10 come from behind win. The Slashers collected 15 hits - led by Mark Lair 3 hits, including a HR and 6 RBI. Steve Brody pitched a great game and collected 3 hits. Santiago Henriques, Joe Dougherty and Grant Elman chipped in with 2 hits apiece. The defense played will led by excellent OF play and the infield was aided by 3 DP's made by Michael George and an outstanding play late in game by Carl Fink. David's Red put forth a gallant effort and battled to the end. As always Mark Goldberg was gracious in defeat and showed everyone he could run.

POA 14 - Noonan's 3

Using a combination of powerful offense, solid defense, and crafty pitching, POA defeated Noonan’s 14-3. SS Peter Joseph got the party started with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the 1st scoring 1B Steve Glassman, LF Sandy Smith, and LCF Jed Steinberg ahead of him. Glassman turned in a stellar performance with 4 hits, 2 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Smith contributed 4 hits as well, including 2 doubles, an RBI, and 2 runs scored while P Leo Friedlich held the Noonan bats in check the entire game and knocking in a run to help his cause. Noonan’s offense was led by Mitch Garson, Mike Flynn, and Alan Feinberg with 2 hits apiece, while Paul “Rosie” Rosenheim had a run scoring hit. Ira Cutler (RBI single) and Flynn accounted for the 2 other RBI.

Noonans 14 - David's Green 5

Noonan’s Noonies broke out the bats today (finally!) and did some major damage with 26 hits and 14 runs scored as the Noonies won only their 2nd game of the season by besting David’s Green by a score of 14-5. The offensive outbreak was led by Pete “Quags” Quaglierini who delivered 5 singles (5-5) producing 3 RBI’s. Also joining in the hit parade was Marty “McDoubles” McFeely who also chipped in with 5 singles (5-5) and 1 RBI. Big Dave Franknecht had a Big day producing 3 singles, 1 double and 6 RBI’s along with some excellent defense at first base. "Captain Ray" Gwertzman also had 3 singles. Mitch Garson pitched a nice tidy game without giving up any walks. Today was the first game that Noonan’s had all their big guns in the lineup at the same time. On the other side of the ledger, in a game where David’s Green was short handed with injuries, Gary Cohen had 4 hits and Jay Rosenthal had a triple in a losing cause.

Yes Group 8 - David's Red 7

Another close game by two evenly matched teams. The Yes Group pulled off its fourth walk off game of the season. With 2 outs and game tied Tony Tepedino for the second time this season hit a line drive bringing in the winning run. Yes Group was led by Tom Venanzi 4/5,2 runs and a RBI, Marty Beilis 2/3 John Tepedino, 2/5, a RBI, Steve Cherches 2/4 and 3 runs, Mark Lippman 1/3, 2 RBIs, Tony D’Angelo 2 RBIs, Steve Behrman 2/4 and a solid pitched game. And Tony Tepedino’s walk off hit. David’s was led by Pete Balling 2 run home run and 3 RBIs, Glen Schoenig 4/4 , 2 RBIs and timely hitting. Also solid pitching of Jose Colls and some defensive plays from both teams. Both teams played well in this very competitive game and showed great sportsmanship throughout the game.

POA 8 - Seneca Slashers 3

A combination of solid hitting and stout defense propelled POA to an 8-3 victory over the Seneca Slashers behind the stellar pitching of Leo Friedlich. The offense was led by SS Peter Joseph with 3 hits and 4 RBI, OF Jed Steinberg with 4 hits, an RBI, and 4 runs scored, and 2B Joe Grispino with 3 hits and 1 run scored. POA’s defense held the Slashers to 3 runs as 1B Steve Glassman, 3B Joe Lopez, MI Richie Ragovin, and Friedlich all contributed clutch defensive plays in the infield while the outfield of Sandy Smith, Steinberg, Steve Jesselli, and Eddy Miller kept Seneca runners off the bases. The Slashers were led by the hitting of Joe Dougherty and George Rothweiler with 3 hits apiece. Dougherty added 2 runs scored and Rothweiler added an RBI while Grant Ehlman chipped in with 2 hits. Great outfield catches by Santiago Henriques and Dougherty supported a well-pitched game by Steve Brody.

Yes Group 7 - Noonans 3

With both teams playing really good defense. And Noonan’s playing with just 9 players kept the game close. The Yes Group came out with 6 runs in the first inning and then bats went quiet. Defense by Noonan’s and Mitch Garson pitching gave up only 1 more run the rest of the way. The Yes Group were led by Tony D’Angelo 3/4, 2 RBIs and a Home Run,Vinny Labarbera a double and 2 RBIs,Steve Behrman 3/4 and a solid pitched game. Tom Venanzi, Steve Cherches, and Marty Beilis had 2 hits each. Also Marc Mittleman had 3 hits to the outfield a RBI and a game saving catch with 2 men on base and fighting the Sun to end the game. Lots of congratulations all around from all teammates and opposing team. Also special thank you to official score keeper Wayne Merwin and on the spot Umpire Michael Tepedino. Also Noonan’s displayed Sportsmanship and Competitiveness as always.

Yes Group 10 - David's Green 9

In a closely contested game with the Yes Group’s third walk off of the season. With the Yes Group leading after 6 innings, David’s Green scored 7 runs to lead 9 to 8 after 7 innings. Still had men on base when the 7 run rule came into effect. The Yes Group was led by 8 innings of good fielding by turning 4 double plays. Leading hitters are Steve Cherches 4 hits 2 RBIs and some nice base running, Tony D’Angelo 4 hits, Tom Venanzi 2 RBIs and Vinny Labarbera 3 hits one was a clutch ninth inning tying single, also had 2 RBIs. And with 2 outs Tony Tepedino’s single drove in the winning walk off run. Steve Behrman pitched another good game and had 2 RBIs. David’s Green was led by the pitching of Jeff Elkin and Gary Cohen’s steady hitting.

David's Red 12 - Pickled Herring 13

Trailing 12-10 with 2 outs and nobody on in the bottom of the 9th, Pickled Herring rallied to defeat Davids Red 13-12. Dan Meyer tripled to drive in 2 runs to tie the score, and after 2 intentional walks to load the bases, Rich Jacobs drew a walk to force in the winning run. Dennis Belzer, Ken Latawiec, Rich Jacobs, and Bobby Bykofsky each had 3 hits to lead Pickled Herring. Noel Gluck and Pete Balling had multiple extra base hits for Davids Red.

Yes Group 6 - Seneca Slashers 5

With two evenly matched teams, this game could have gone either way. With some timely hitting and base running, the Yes Group pulled off a walk off against a solid Seneca team. We played twice and Seneca won the first game by the same score. With bases loaded twice, Seneca turned two double plays from Mark Lair to catcher Jason Sobel for two critical putouts at home. Slashers had a total of 18 hits led by Mike George and Joe Dougherty with 4 hits each. Larry Farina had 3 hits and 3 runs scored.  Randy Cohen, Carl Fink and Mark Lair had 2 hits each. Steve Brody pitched a solid game. 

 The Yes Group was led by Tom Venanzi, 4/4 and a RBI, Vinny Labarbera, 4/4 and a double and 2 RBIs, Steve Cherches, 2/4 and 3 runs scored and Tony D’Angelo, 2/4 and a RBI. Steve Behrman was 2/4 and had a well pitched game. Defensively Tom Venanzi and Wayne Merwin made diving catches to end rallies. In the bottom of the ninth Marty Beilis with a clutch single brought in the tying run, then Fred Charleston singled in the winning run. Hats off to Rich Delvecchio and his team for sportsmanship and enthusiasm in this well played game.

Pickled Herring 7 - Seneca Slashers 4

Pickled Herring, led by a John Watts homer run, a triple by Dan Meyer and a timely 2 run single by Victor Williams, helped defeat the Senaca Slashers by the score of 7 to 4. Another superb pitching performance by Lou Pinchinson solidified the victory. The return of Bob Bykovsky at shortstop within assist by Roger D'antoni at 3rd base helped the cause. 

The Seneca Slashers were led by Steve Brody's pitching. Offensively Steve Brody, Joe Dougherty , and Santiago Henrique each had 2 hits apiece with a rbi and run scored.

David's Green 11 - POA 6

POA was led by the hitting of 3B Bob Cranmer who had 3 hits, SS Pete Joeseph crushed a solo shot over the left center field fence, and Miller and Friedlich both with 2 hits, in a losing battle with Davids Green who played very good defense and excellent pitching by Larry Turkel.

With both teams playing short handed with injuries and vacations, The Yes Group played a solid team defense with no errors and some diving catches from Tom Venanzi, John Tepedino, and a rollover dive from Tony Tepedino. Hitting leaders were Steve Cherches 3/4, Tom Venanzi 3/4 with 4 RBIs, Tony D’Angelo 4/4 with 5 RBIs and a Home Run. John Tepedino, Mike Tepedino and Wayne Merwin each with 2 hits. Winning pitcher Mike Tepedino only allowed 3 hits. 

Noonan’s was led by Marty McFeely with 2 hits, Bob Levine with a hit, and Bob Harris and Jerry Lefkowitz each with 3 walks. 

Also a Big Thank You to Rich Delvecchio for umpiring when needed.

Yes Group 32 - David's Red 15

With second place on the line, both teams put on a hitting and scoring performance with 47 runs scored. David’s took the early lead with a 5 run first and a 4 run second, and led 9 to 3 after two innings. Then the Yes Group bats came alive and defense was solid. Only allowed 6 more runs and scored 29 runs with 32 hits. A total team effort with hitting leaders Tom Venanzi 5/6 5 runs and a triple, Tony D’Angelo 5/6, 6 RBIs and 2 doubles, Dan Feeney 4/5 and 5 RBIs, Vinny Labarbera 3/5, 4 runs and 3 RBIs, John Tepedino 2/4, 5 RBIs and a double, Tony Tepedino 2/4 and 3 RBIs, Marc Mittleman (rally starter) 3/6, Mark Lippman a nice double that almost went over fence and Steve Behrman 2/5, 3 RBIs and a solid pitched game. 

David’s Red was led by multiple players with good hitting: Alan Blumenthal, Pete Balling (who almost hit one over), Mark Goldberg, and Glen Tringali. Looking forward to playing again when both teams are in full attendance. Both teams showed good sportsmanship and enthusiasm.

Today was a game that both teams showed enjoyment and sportsmanship. The Yes Group had a total solid team performance with defense, Steve Behrman’s steady pitching and 21 total team hits. They were led by Steve Cherches 4/5, 2 doubles and some really nice defensive catches. Tom Venanzi 3/5 including a triple and 2 RBIs, Vinny Labarbera 2/3 and 4 RBIs, Steve Behrman 2/5, 2 RBIs, Tony Tepedino 3/5 and Marc Mittleman (rally starter) 2/4,Tony D’Angelo 2/5 and 3 RBIs and Dan Feeney 3 RBIs. Total team effort. 

Princeton Orthopedic was led with Peter Joseph 3 RBIs, Steve Glassman 3 hits and a RBI, and Sandy Smith with 3 hits.

Noonan's 10 - Seneca Slashers 2

A game that featured the MSSL’s first TRIPLE PLAY was recorded by NOONAN’S NOONIES vs. the SENECA SLASHERS. In the first inning of NOONAN’S 10-2 victory, which was it’s 1st win of the year, Seneca had the bases loaded with no outs and proceeded to hit into a triple play as catcher Mike O’ Donohue started the milestone play when he pounced on a dribbler in front of the plate, stepped on home , tagged the batter and after that, all hell broke loose with a throw down to 3rd to tag another runner coming from 2nd base (I think, LOL). Pitcher Mitch Garson’s excellent pitching was backed by Noonan’s great defense both in the infield and outfield. Noonan’s offense which produced 16 hits, was led by Paul Rosenheim, Pete Quags (2 RBIs), Mike Flynn (2 RBIs), Mitch Garson (2 RBIs), Alan Feinberg (2 RBIs), and Mike O’Donohue (2 RBIs) with 2 hits apiece. 

In a losing effort, the Seneca Slashers played a solid defensive game but managed only 8 hits. Santiago Henriquez had 2 hits and Mark Lair and Grant Elman had a hit and RBI each.

Seneca Slashers 6 - Yes Group 5

In a hotly contested game, The Yes Group battled back from an early 5-2 deficit to tie the game up at 5-5 in the late innings. The Slashers scored a late run in the bottom of the 8 th to hold to a 6-5 Victory.

The Slashers played excellent team defense all around. They were led by Larry Farina's 4 hits and outstanding defensive play at short. Carl Fink, George Rothweiler, Mark Lair and Grant Elman chipped in with two hits a piece. George Rothweiler added 2 RBI . Grant Elman pitched an efficient game and threw strikes. In the top of the ninth Santiago Henriques made a tough catch in the top of the ninth to help secure the win.

For the Yes Group, Tony D'angelo went 2-3, 3 RBIs and a HR. Steve Cherches went 2-3 with an RBI. Dan Feeney, Marty Beliis and Marc Mittleman chipped in with 2 hits a piece. Steve Behrman pitched an outstanding game in the loss allowing only 1 run in the last 7 innings. Fred Charleston expertly managed his team and was always a gentleman win or lose.

Pickled Herring 14 - Noonan's 7

A total team effortby Pickled Herring resulted in a  14 to 7 victory. Leading the way was John Watts who went 4 for 5 including a double and 3 runs scored. Kenny Latawiec contribution was a 4 for 4 day, followed by Roger D'antoni's 4 RBIs and Bob Bykovsky who was 3 for 5 and 3 runs scored. Lou Pinchinson was outstanding as the winning pitcher of record while also getting 3 hits. 

For Noonans: Pete Quaglieri had 2 singles and a double , Mike Flynn 3 singles and 1 RBI, Mike Garson 2 singles and 1 RBI, Bob Harris 3 singles and 1 RBI and Dave Frankecht 2 singles and 2 RBIs.

The Seneca Slashers fought back from two deficits only to lose in extra innings to David's green. The Slashers were led Larry Farina with 4 hits, Joe Dougherty and Grant Elman with 3 hits each, and George Rothweiler with 2 hits and 4 RBIs. 

David's Green power came from Jay Rosenthal who had 2 home runs and a triple. Mike Dunn, Joe Mott and Mitch Einstein each had 3 hits, and Larry Turkel had 2 Hits and pitched well for the win.

Yes Group 9 - Pickled Herring 8

It was a competitive game with two evenly matched teams. The Yes Group staged a last inning comeback with Vinny Labarbera’s single, a walk to Steve Cherches, and a clutch double by Tony D’Angelo which tied the game. A sacrifice fly by Tony Tepedino moved D’Angelo over to third. After two intentional walks and Pickle team moving in closer, Dan Feeney’s hit created a walk off win. Yes Group was led by Labarbera 3/4 and 4 RBIs; D’Angelo 3/4, 2 doubles, and 2 RBIs; Steve Behrman 2/2 and 2 walks; Wayne Merwin 3/3; Dan Feeney 2/4 and 2 RBIs; and John Tepedino 2/4. A total team effort:  Defense, Hitting and Pitching. Michael Tepedino hurt his pulled groin again (get better Mike), so relievers Mark Lippman and Vinny Labarbera finished the game.

The Pickled Herring, aka PH, were ready to go for their season opener against the formidable Yes Group. The PH started off hitting very well and scoring runs leading the game through 5 innings. Unfortunately the hitting became too silent to control the lead giving way to a close walk off loss. Lot Pichinson pitched an excellent game showing consistent control while supporting himself hitting 3 for 3. Bobby Bykovsky displayed his batting skill with a single, double, 2 walks and scoring 3 runs. Stan Chorney hit the first PH “Home Run.” Way to go Stan!

David's Red 16 - POA 10

POA 11 - Seneca Slashers 10

In a closely contested game, the Slashers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st but saw that lead melt away in the bottom of the inning as POA scored 4 runs capped by a 2-run moonshot by Pete ""The Hammer"" Joseph that still has not come down. Trailing 10-8 in the bottom of the 8th, Joseph struck again with a solo shot to left center that cut the lead to 10-9. After P Leo Friedlich shut down the Slashers in the top of the 9th, POA loaded the bases and then watched as Matt Ostroff played hero by driving in the winning runs for an 11-10 win. Friedlich pitched and fielded well and got additional offensive support from MI Steve Glassman and RCF Lance Greenberg. 

The Slashers, trailing 8-2, forged a comeback scoring 8 runs in the 4th and 5th innings to move ahead briefly 10-8. They were led by the pitching of Grant Elman who added 2 hits and rbi, 1B George Rothweiler with 3 hits and 2 RBI, and Joe Dougherty, who chipped in with a big triple that scored 3 runs. Standout Defensive game for SS Larry Farina who made great play after great play. And kudos to the great effort by Sandy Henriquez who nearly robbed Peter Joseph of a homerun. 

David's Green 13 - Yes Group 7

Nice opening Day Win by Davids Green, scoring 13 runs by good hitting from the entire team, Excellent defense by Gary Cohen, and Great pitching by Larry Turkel. From the Yes Group, Tom Venanzi was 4 for 5, Steve Cherches hit a 3 run homer with 4 RBI;s , and Steve Behrman pitched well. 

David's Red 15 - Noonan's 11

On opening day, many of us reflect back to the first time we put on a little league uniform. That thought brings back a strong emotional attachment to the game we love. How lucky are we that we can still play this great game. David's Landscaping's (Red) victory (15-11) was keyed by their exceptional defense, led by their shortstop Noel Gluck. The defense turned 4 double plays. The bats produced 16 hits and struck for 15 runs. The offense was led by the landscaping firm of Van Wart and Keyhart as they planted hits and 4 RBIs. 

Noonan’s were led by Mitch Garson with 3 singles and an RBI.
